Rory Kyte.

Now, I talk about this guy a lot. I talk about him a lot because he is one of the most interesting people I've ever met. He is also one of the most talented people I have ever met. His name is Rory Kyte, and this is a collection of songs he has sent me over the past couple years. It's just a jumble, there is no real way to order them.

I strongly encourage you to check him out, and show your friends who are fans of Bright Eyes, Elliott Smith, Johnny Thunders, etc. All he's ever wanted is for people to listen to his music.

Elliott - False Cathedrals

This album blows my mind pretty much every time I listen to it. It's serene and calming, while at the right times, abrasive and heavy. Pissed off, while somehow melancholy. It touches just about every base that a good album should, anthemic pop songs, and spacey, dreamy passages.

WELL, I'm going to stop gushing over this amazing piece of art, and just upload it for you.

Phelix.

Years ago, i met a young bot by the name of Rory Kyte. When i met him, he was kind of unwashed, and had that "i don't give a fuck" demeanor. Later on that night, i watched him get on stage with his guitar, and 2 other boys. When they began to play their set, my ears felt like they were bleeding. it was LOUD, it was RAW, and it was AMAZING.

This is the Sole C.D. this band put out, and in recent days, Mr. Rory Kyte has been keeping himself busy with his own solo recordings, and he played in the recently defunct band The Falling Service. This ZIP has their sole full length "Turnstyles" as well as one unreleased song.

P.S. I have a couple more TFS Tracks that i will post shortly that weren't on their E.P. Down Below.

THE SHIP THIEVES!! (And Chris Wollard of course)

As some of you already know, I am a big fan of Gainesville, Florida's Hot Water Music. They broke up a few years ago, and since then, the boys of HWM have been releasing music either in a "solo" format, or with other bands. And as of yet, none of the new projects have let me down. This is no different.

Chris Wollard (HWM, The Blacktop Cadence, The Cro(w)s, The Draft) released a Split with Mr. Mike Hale a few months ago, and his half of the split blew me away. Now, we get a whole album of his alt-country stylings in the form of "Chris Wollard and The Ship Thieves."

Amnesia Amnesia - S/T E.P.

Amnesia Amnesia, another one of the mindless Belleville drone bands following this fading "hardcore" fad? or maybe something a little more? I know on the surface these songs sound contrived and fleeting, but the emotion behind at the very least the Lyrics is legit. I can say that for sure.

Being a personal friend of some of these guys I would like to offer some advice, range your influences, and cut some of the longer breakdowns a little shorter. Especially the first few songs are supposed to grab attention, not bore people with the same break down and riffs for what seems like days (somehow you managed to do this in little over 2 and 3 minutes).

Well, enough scathing, these boys put a lot of work into this E.P. and into their live show, so i will knock them no more. It's not my kind of music, but some of it has a pretty good groove.

The Falling Service - Spirit of the Dead Watching E.P.

This C.D. came at a time in our local music scene when music had taken a back seat to aesthetic for all but a few bands. So when this band hit the "scene" it was a beautiful breath of fresh air.

The Falling Service was heavily D.C. influenced emotional punk, they had a live set that was both cathartic and hysterical. Equal parts fall all over yourself and break shit, and just enough sense to know when to restrain and pluck their strings perfectly softly.

They came from the ashes of a "Lo-Fi Horror Muzac" band by the name of Phelix (who i will post in another episode).

Went on to form Amnesia Amnesia - Chug Chug Hardcore.

My first post.

My mission is too bring you some of the music that surrounds me on a day to day basis, with reviews and my thoughts about it. I will post links to listen to the songs, and possibly download.

I am doing this because i feel there is a lot of music made and released around me that should be shared.

As well, this is a way for me to just get across my thoughts on music. For me, and anyone who feels like reading. I hope you enjoy.
